FEI is pleased to announce the March winners of the 2010 Owner Image Contest. FEI received thirty-six incredible entries throughout the month, with several amazing images from industry, research, and life sciences.

Congratulations to Sergei Remennik of Technion and Francisco Rangel of Brazil's Centre for Strategic Technologies of the North East (CETENE).

Each of these entrants will receive an iPod nano, and a chance to win two round-trip airline tickets to anywhere in the world.

The March 'Technical Merit' Award Winner was Sergei Remennik with a LACBED image of ScAl phase obtained on a Tecnai TEM at 200 kV, spot 7 (top).

The March 'Most Popular' Award Winner was Francisco Rangel for his image of a human tooth (below).

This is an image of a piece of dentine acquired using a scanning electron microscope. It shows the dentinal tubules viewed after demineralization using etching with 37% phosphoric acid for 15 seconds and 10% sodium hypochlorite for 1 minute. The colors were obtained by mixing the signals of secondary and backscattered electrons. The mixing was performed using software from FEI Company.

Image Details: Quanta Family; Vacuum: 9.4 e-7 mbar; Voltage: 10 kV; Spot: 3.0; Working Distance: 11.0; Detector: MIX: SE (channel 1) and BSE (channel 2).
