JEOL /CURIE Institute Meeting on 24-25 November, 2009, inauguated JEM 2200FS Cryo-TEM


On 24th to 25th of November, 2009, JEOL celebrated its 60 years of electron microscopy innovation with the inauguration of the Curie Institute JEM-2200FS Cryo Tomo TEM. The CMJ (Cercle des Microscopistes JEOL) opened the 2-day meeing at which the participants presented their scientific achievements and JEOL also introduced the first atmospheric SEM, the Clairscope. A festive and friendly evening completed the day.

Jeol CurieThe 2nd day started with an illuminating presentation of Tomography X with Soleil Synchrotron by Prof. Samama. Professor Fujiyoshi followed with an impressive lecture on Cryo electron microscopy results, and his 7th generation of JEOL CRYO TEM with which he could run up to 34 samples a day! Then Dr Marco presented the progress of the joint development between JEOL and Curie Institute on High Speed Tomography. Just before the VIP speeches, Dr Ravelle Chapuis demonstrated in the amphitheatre, by remote control, the JEM-2200FS and its filtering capabilities in front of 85 people. To conclude, everybody enjoyed a tremendous buffet with an unforgettable “Animation foie Gras”.

Over these 2 days JEOL expressed its strong will to reinforce its partnership with European scientists to develop new technologies. Iwatsuki-san (JEOL Director & CEO) travelled from Japan with Professor Fujiyoshi to emphasize JEOL’s wish to form future collaborations.

The next 2010 CMJ will take place in Rouen, France.
