HREM Research Inc. has announced that it is now shipping HREM Filters Pro/Lite, sophisticated optimal Wiener and difference filters for Gatan's DigitalMicrograph.
HREM Filters Pro/Lite works even for non-ideal crystals, such as a nanocrystals, cylindrical crystals, quasi-crystals twins, and so on. The key features include: uses smoothed two-dimensional background; uses locally estimated backgrounds; trend subtraction; optimal periodic Wiener filter using accurate base vectors.
HREM-Filters Lite can be downloaded free of charge from their website: www.hremresearch.com.
"Most of the specimens for high-resolution electron microscopy are covered with amorphous surface layers. Moreover, nanoparticles are usually imbedded within amorphous substrate," said Dr. Kazuo Ishizuka, president of HREM Research Inc. "Filtering has been considered as a cosmetic processing. However, without a detection of a structure by human, there is no way to analyze a structure quantitatively. Thus, HREM Filters Pro will become an indispensable tool for nano materials research.
About HREM Research Inc.
Founded in 2001, HREM Research Inc. specializes in developing products and services that enhance high-resolution electron microscopy (HREM). Dr Kazuo Ishizuka, the founder of the company has established the whole technique for HREM image simulation. Thus the company's flagship product, Mac/WinHREM, is a world leading HREM image simulation software. Currently, HREM Research Inc. is actively working on making useful techniques to be available for the HREM community.
