Biobank Director (Toronto) - University Health Network

Summary: 
The University Health Network (UHN) is consolidating and expanding its biobanks into an organized, centralized, integrated, state of the art facility that develops and implements best practices for safely and appropriately acquiring, storing, and distributing all types of human biospecimens for use in medical research. The Director, Biobank will be responsible for the medical and scientific design and operation of the UHN Biobank.
Job Description: 

The ideal candidate is a qualified Pathologist or Laboratory Physician with knowledge of the medical and legal requirements for human specimen handling, with expertise in human specimen identification, collection and optimal storage for future use in research, and with experience in Biobank management and design. The Biobank Director will work with the Management of the Laboratory Medicine Program to ensure efficient operations and supervise the technical staff. The Biobank Director will report to the Biobank Executive Committee. 

The University Health Network comprises 4 hospitals including the Princess Margaret Hospital, Toronto General Hospital, Toronto Western Hospital and Toronto Rehabilitation Institute fully affiliated with the University of Toronto.  UHN maintains 765 hospital beds and nearly 1 million ambulatory visits annually.
