Image of the Month: Atomic Nanomanipulation using Scanning Tunnelling Microscopy

Houselt March 08 Figure 1 3D reconstruction from a scanning tunnelling microscope image of a germanium surface covered with atomic platinum chains. Image size is 15 x 15 nm2, the bias voltage was -1.45 V and the tunnelling current was 0.50 nA. Read the article by Arie van Houselt et al. in the March 2008 issue of Microscopy and Analysis.
