The biggest advantage of a new high-speed two-axis scanner from Intelligent Imaging Innovations Inc. (3i) is flexibility. The Vector Live Specimen Scanner has a 300 microsecond response, can direct lasers to any location, and mounts to any microscope port. Its diffraction-limited spot allows high-resolution targeting with high-energy density. It accepts lasers from near UV through near IR and is useful for FRAP, photoactivation, photoswitching and photoablation. In addition it can be sued for interactive examination of living specimens and for two-photon microscopy.
